Today we joined thousands of golfers around the world in celebrating International Women’s Golf Day (IWGD). What started as a quick stop to capture a group photo turned into an afternoon well spent—because once you feel that golfer energy, it’s hard to walk away.
It was a scorcher—one of the hottest days of the year so far—but that didn’t stop the women of SGC. Clad in red (with more than a few sun-kissed cheeks), players rolled in from their 9 or 18 holes ready to raise a glass and enjoy a well-earned luncheon. To the unknowing eye, it may have looked like an early Canada Day party—but this crew was here to celebrate something just as powerful: the presence and strength of women in golf.
Kendra Pagnan offered a warm welcome at lunch, sharing that she first encountered Women’s Golf Day while traveling and felt inspired to bring the celebration to Saugeen. Thanks to everyone who participated, we’re proud to be part of the IWGD community—promoting inclusion, access, and a welcoming environment for women and girls in the game, across Bruce County and beyond.
Events like this are a reminder of what makes SGC special. The laughs, the friendships, the unwavering support (and maybe a cold beverage or two)—this is what keeps our community strong. This year, Women’s Golf Day landed on June 3rd—fittingly, the same day Saugeen Golf Club turned 100. A global celebration of women in golf sharing the spotlight with our centennial? We couldn’t have planned it better. Here’s to tradition, inclusion, and the next 100 years of welcoming women to the game.
