As the new President of Saugeen Golf Club, I’m both honoured and a little nervous to write this first message—especially during our 100th anniversary season! With the help of our dedicated volunteers and staff, this milestone year is full of opportunity, pride, and celebration.
AGM Highlights
At our recent Annual General Meeting, we wrapped up the previous season with a financial review and recognized major accomplishments—including hosting the Canadian Senior Men’s Championship and kicking off our centennial planning.
The AGM also marked the election of new Board members. I’d like to thank Kendra Pagnan and Deb Morton for their service to the club—you’ll be missed around the board table, and we wish you many great rounds ahead.
Congratulations to our new certificate holders:
Darin Dirk, Brett Shular, Tom Hughson, Paul Bolton, and Helen Bertin, along with John Aschwanden and Colin Morano, who are joining the Board of Directors.
A warm welcome back to Paul Whitehead, now serving as Vice President after previously acting as Secretary. And a sincere thank you to Derek Alstein and Dalton Reany for their leadership as past President and Vice President—Derek will return as Secretary and Dalton continues as a Director.
Special thanks to Dalton for his work on the Courses & Facilities Committee—we’re especially excited for the reopening of the upper deck!
Looking Ahead
The Centennial Year is officially underway, and we’re excited to offer a wide variety of events to celebrate across all areas of the club. Please explore what’s coming up—you won’t want to miss what’s planned.
Under the leadership of GM Brad Young, we’ve made meaningful changes in the business office, modernizing systems that will improve how we manage operations and communicate with members.
Kudos to Margaux Bucher, our Marketing & Membership Manager, for elevating member communications across platforms. The launch of the Member Portal and insights from recent surveys will help shape thoughtful decisions and keep you informed throughout the season.
On the course, Mike Pellerin and his team have once again delivered outstanding conditions—thank you for your expertise and dedication. To Riley, our golf operations staff, and the Pro Shop team, thank you and best of luck for a fantastic season. We’re looking forward to events like the Wooden Sticks Invitational, one of many exciting highlights of our Centennial year.
A Shared Goal
As we move through this celebratory year, we’re not only focused on delivering an exceptional golf experience—we’re aiming to be known for offering an Exceptional Golf Club experience.
With improvements in branding, signage, the upper deck, and food and beverage service underway, we’re positioned for continued growth. And with the right people and processes in place, that next level of excellence is within reach.
Let’s make 2025 a year to remember—for our golf, our community, and the legacy we continue to build together at Saugeen Golf Club.
