On the evening of April 27, 2026, Saugeen Golf Club held its AGM. This meeting serves to close out the financials and club business for 2025, elect new Certificate Holders and Board members, and set the stage for the year ahead.
I was pleased to share that our financial outlook is trending in the right direction. Projects that have been on hold for several years can once again be discussed—and potentially undertaken—in the near future.
In reflecting on the past season, I also highlighted the tremendous success of our 100th anniversary celebrations. Many similar events will be returning this year, so be sure to secure your tickets for the Gala early—it is expected to sell out quickly.
Election Results
I am pleased to announce that the successful candidates for Certificates are:
Tom Baker, Jim Bethune, John Leithead, and James McHaig.
The three Board positions open this year will be filled by myself, Ian Bowers, along with new Board members Ron Kerr and Ian Little. Congratulations to all successful candidates—I look forward to working together over the next three years.
Acknowledging Outgoing Board Members
With new members joining the Board, we also say thank you to those stepping away.
Justin Reinhart, who served as Treasurer over the past three seasons, brought diligence and attention to detail that helped modernize our financial practices and record keeping. His contributions at the Board table will be missed. On behalf of all members, I thank Justin for his service and wish him the very best moving forward.
Derek Alstein will also be stepping down after six years of service, including time as both Secretary and President. Derek’s professionalism, leadership, and commitment to Saugeen’s long-term success have been invaluable. His forward-thinking approach has helped position the club for the future while maintaining its proud legacy. On behalf of the membership, thank you Derek, and best wishes in all future endeavours.
Honorary Membership
One of the most rewarding announcements of the evening was the awarding of an Honorary Membership to Mike Pellerin.
This recognition reflects Mike’s many years of dedication and the significant role he has played in shaping Saugeen into the exceptional golf course it is today. Mike, congratulations—and thank you.
